From last week, I've been beleaguered by a task I've taken on myself...generation of listening tasks by using text to speech tools. Muthuraman has been spearheading this effort of mine with his research of the net to find suitable tools. Shankar of CSE also gave me three tools - TalkIt and two other tools. As I always say, our kids are always there to help out with the technology.

Anyway, coming back to Muthu, this afternoon he brought another one called, TextSound. The problem with all these is that they pose a few hitches and features that do not meet our requirements. I am at it and hope that some solution will come up with help from theWizards of GCE.

If I can find a free software that will help me construct a conversation based on which I can design questions, I shall be the happiest person.

Is this the one where the Narrator voices the text?
Thank you. Shall open the link and try it out.
Keeping my fingers crossed that something will work out.

I tried it...vista makes it extremely difficult. I also wonder if the audio file can be saved, if at all I manage to get the text to speech going. :(

Mam...My name is Ganesh Kumar. I did my engineering in 1999-2003 and currently working in CTS. I was discussing with my friends about selecting a project from students and providing financial as well as technical assistance in completing it. In the long run, we have a plan of marketing the product.

I would like to initiate it with one project first. I am currently doing some ground work on this. I might need to contact some one from GCE(Either student or teacher). Will you be able to suggest a contact for me?

My email id is : ganeshkumar.marimuthu@gmail.com

Hi Ganesh, good work. Glad to hear about your proposal. Could you please let me know which year students you would like to work with? And, the department? As you are aware, we have some really brilliant minds here and they can help your dream come true. Just let me know and I shall be happy to help you with your initial phase of work.

Mam...I really thank you very much for your encouraging reply. We are planning to work with 3rd year students as it will not affect their study. We are not going to restrict with any department particularly. Our motto will be creating a product that will be useful to the society. I will be meeting with a person (from IIT madras) who has initiated a similar activity. I will contact you in a couple of weeks with more information.

Meanwhile if you are aware of any persons whom you think can give us valid inputs, please dont hesitate to share such info.

-Thanks
Ganesh
